Sky Dancer Not Impacted By Recent Galapagos
National Park Enforcement Actions

Galapagos Islands, Ecuador --- Peter Hughes Diving, Inc. wants to reassure all of our guests who are booked on the M/V Sky Dancer for upcoming voyages that the vessel will be sailing as scheduled, and has not been impacted by the recent enforcement actions by the Galapagos National Park Officials. Reports that all diving has been suspended in the Galapagos National Park, and in particular, the area of Wolf and Darwin Islands, by operators who have had to cancel voyages are not true.

According to Peter Hughes “We have recently become aware that a number of vessels offering cruises that featured diving in the Galapagos National Park have had to cancel their voyages. I just want to reassure all of our guests that the Sky Dancer will continue operations as normal.”

The M/V Sky Dancer is duly licensed to operate in the Galapagos National Park and in particular, at the islands of Wolf and Darwin. To reassure our guests, Peter Hughes Diving, Inc. has posted a copy of their 2007/2008 park license here at www.peterhughes.com. This is the key piece of documentation that guests should utilize to verify that their scheduled voyage to the Galapagos Islands is fully authorized by the park.

Santiago Dunn, Managing Director the M/V Sky Dancer added “As Ecuadorian Citizens we all know how important the preservation of our natural resources are. The Galapagos National Park was created to ensure that this very special area on our planet is preserved for generations to come through regulations that limit utilization of certain areas and put in place capacity controls. Unfortunately, on June 26, 2007 the United Nations placed the Galapagos National Park to the list of World Heritage sites in danger from environmental threats or overuse.”

Peter Hughes Diving also wants to advise guests traveling this summer that the runway repair project in San Cristobal has been extended and is now estimated to be completed in late August at the earliest. During this time, guests will enter and depart the Galapagos Islands through the Baltra airport instead. During this time the Sky Dancer’s itinerary has been modified to accommodate this change. The revised itinerary can also be found here at this link.

Peter Hughes Diving and the Dancer Fleet offer world class live-aboard adventures in Tobago, Grenada, Belize, Galapagos National Park, Papua New Guinea, Bali and the Komodo National Park in Indonesia, and The Maldives. In 2008 the new Paradise Dancer will add itineraries serving North Sulawesi and Raja Ampat, Indonesia.
